Playing in 80 degree waves at least once per day is an essential part of my new lifestyle. It’s hard to imagine how I lived in the heart of downtown San Francisco for 8 years. To this day I still wake up wondering if it’s all a dream. My soul was CRAVING nature and specifically the ocean. I finally listened to my heart when I made the move to CR one year ago. Though challenging at times, the rewards in living abroad, and being location independent, FAR out way any negatives. Love abounds here in Costa Rica. Ticos are ranked the happiest in the world next to the Balinese and I think you can see why. Not only are they surrounded by pristine green natural beauty 24/7, but their culture is incredible open hearted and community based. They value and prioritize their relationships with all people they encounter. You could be a complete stranger and they would still smile and say “Buenas!” I’ve never had so many strangers go out of their way to have long conversations, look you in the eye, and offer their help or guidance.
Growing up in the states where competition and individualism is rewarded I wanted to experience what a society built on community truly felt like. Never have I felt more family support from a community. Never have I formed such deep bonds with authentic and open minded people. Never did I think I would fall SO much in love with a small beach town and it’s people. I found a very special tribe and am grateful daily for their love and support.
I’d also love to thank YOU! Yes you! For sharing your thoughts and wisdom with me through Instagram. I love reading your questions and helping to inspire you on your own epic journey. Your pictures inspire me everyday to do more, and be more of myself. Sending you salty hugs and kisses!
